I can't believe my baby boy is 3! He has grown up so much in this last year. Now that he is a big brother, he doesn't have any time to be a baby, it's all about being a big boy. First thing when he woke up, we gave him a present from Daddy and I before Daddy had to head off to work. A big boy Cars hat that he had seen at Target and asked for as a birthday gift. The perfect thing to wear for our trip to the zoo.

I had come back from my morning run to find this Happy Birthday sign that was left for Wes from Papa and Lou Lou. After Wes opened his present, he ran outside to see his special sign. We got ready and headed off to the zoo to meet Lizzy and Jack.

We saw some animals and played on the splash pad. Nice Aunt Lizzy made Wes some special cupcakes for his birthday picnic lunch at the zoo. We had to shoo away a curious chipmunk who REALLY wanted to get at those cupcakes. It was also Jack's first trip to the zoo.

We took our usual Thursday night, family dinner night over to Red Robin, Wes's favorite restaurant. Wes's favorite food is burger and Red Robin always delivers, although I think he tried the corn dog this time. The only funny thing about Red Robin is that for some reason, Wes is afraid of a picture that hangs on the wall. There is that famous photo of Albert Einstein sticking out his tongue and Wes just doesn't like it. We have to keep telling him that it is silly, not scary.

How else would you end your birthday dinner than with an ice cream sundae? Wes LOVES ice cream and LOVES chocolate, so he was a happy camper. He was a little disappointed that he couldn't suck the ice cream up through the tubular cookie, but the spoon worked just fine.

He then got to open a few more presents at home before going to bed. Not that he's spoiled or anything.

Happy Birthday mitter man! The day you were born changed our lives forever for the better. We love you so much!
