Our Spring Surprise
Random blades of grass were comimg up all over the front and back yard. I was going to pull them but my mom said she thought they looked like bulb leaves and to leave them and see what happened. Much to my delight, I came out back one morning to find this daffodil in our back yard. We got several others over the next couple weeks and they were so pretty. There's nothing like flowers in your yard that you don't have to plant or take care of!

Hey Mr. DJ
Papa and Lou Lou got Wes this little karaoke style tape player and he loves it. He has learned all the words to the 3 songs featured on the only tape he has for it. Miss Mary Mack, The Lady With the Alligator Purse, and Skip to My Lou. I'll have to try and find him some more tapes, he really enjoys it.

Story Time
We have been taking advantage of my maternity leave and walking up to the library on Tuesdays for story time. Every week they feature a different letter and talk about words that start with that letter and read books about things that start with that letter. There's singing and dancing and at the end every kid gets a construction paper cutout of the letter of the day and a coloring sheet featuring something that starts with the letter.
On this particular Tuesday the letter of the day was U. They showed the kids pictures of an umbrella, a unicorn and an umpire. They also gave Wes a coloring page with a unicorn on it. He asked me a couple times what it was because he had never seen a unicorn before. There aren't too many unicorns featured in little boy books. That night we were telling Daddy what we did that day. I asked Wes what letter we learned about and he told Daddy, "U". I asked him to name some things that start with U and he told Daddy, "umbrella". I then asked him what was pictured on his coloring page. He looked at it, thought really hard for a couple seconds and exclaimed, "Horse-a-corn"! I thought this was really cute and smart. When in doubt, come up with a logical answer and state it as if you know what you're talking about. That's what Daddy does.

Happy Valentine's Day
I had gotten a few small things for the boys for Valentine's Day and decided that morning before they got up to make a photo scavenger hunt. I took pictures of different areas in our house and printed them up. When Wes woke up, I gave him the first picture and told him to go to that place in the house. When he got there, he found a little wrapped present and another picture. He went to 3 or 4 different places and got little wrapped gifts at each place, then he helped Nate look for his special gift in a special spot. It was pretty fun and I think we will make it our Valentine's Day tradition. I also made pink, chocolate chip pancakes which Wes refused to eat. For some reason, he does not like pancakes, even with chocolate chips in them.
Later that day, Wes helped me make a Valentine's Day craft for Grandma Dee Dee and Linde. We also got some cupcakes from our favorite cupcake bakery and Wes got a couple to share with Grandma and Linde.Chris and I were lucky enough to get to go on two, count them two, dates on Valentine's weekend. Grandma Lou Lou and Papa watched the boys Friday night while we went to Flo's happy hour for dinner and then to a movie. Then Grandma Dee Dee and Linde watched them Saturday night while we went to a second movie. Chris and I were trying to see some of the Oscar nominated movies before the Oscars at the end of the month, so this enabled us to cross a couple of those off of our list.
Then Sunday night, Grandma Lou Lou, Papa, Lizzy, Chris and Jack came over for dinner. Liz and I had taken all the cousins to get their picture taken and gave it to Papa and Lou Lou for Valentine's Day. What a bunch of cuties!

If you can't tell by the pictures, Jack was NOT amused by the photographer. He kept looking at him like "Dude, you are not funny". Nate wasn't so interested either. I guess his humor only applied to 2 year olds.

Puppy Love
This is Jaime and Adam's new puppy Sid Vicious. We call him Sid, he is a Puggle (half Pug, half Beagle) and totally cute. It was love at first sight for Wes. There is something about kids and puppies. Sid has a ton of energy, and so does Wes, so it is a match made in heaven. Wes loves to chase and chase and chase him around, and so does Sid.

Sweet Dreams
Wes has started remembering his dreams a little bit. Every once in a while he has a little something to tell me about a dream. One day he woke up from a nap screaming and crying, "Mommy, Diesel, Mommy, Diesel". Diesel is a "scary" bad guy train in a Thomas video that Wes has always been a little intimidated by. Before he could talk very well he just called him "grrrr". Wes could not tell me the details of the bad dream but it definitely included Diesel 10 the mean train. One morning Wes woke up and told me he had a dream about Alex. Again, he didn't really have any specifics other than Alex was involved. I wasn't positive at first who he was talking about because he inexplicably calls my 2nd cousin Alex, "Larry". So, I asked him if he meant that he had a dream about "Larry". To which he replied, a little irritated, "Mommy, Larry's name is Alex". Well, I stand corrected.
