The first day I picked Wes up from preschool, I asked him what he did. The first thing he said was, "We had a healthy snack". I asked him what he had for snack and he said doughnuts. Huh? The teacher said they had cupcakes for one of the kids birthdays, but I was pretty sure that Wes knew darn well what a cupcake was. I asked him if he had anything else for snack. "Yeah cheese, but I didn't like it". What? Wes not like cheese, something must be wrong here.
Several more school days went by and every day he told me what they had for snack. All of which were healthy snacks that I had seen listed on the snack calendar. Then today again, I asked Wes what he had for snack and he said doughnuts. Ok, I know they promote healthy eating at this school and they are not giving him doughnuts. There has to be an explanation. I figured I would go home and try and figure it out from the snack calendar. If I couldn't figure it out, I would have to ask the teacher, if only to satisfy my curiosity.
So....doughnuts? Bagels! That cheese he didn't like? Cream Cheese! It's so fun and cute to try and figure out his little preschool day.

Nate is Crawling
Watch out world, here he comes. Nate is crawling! It's an army crawl, but it's definitely a crawl.

Jammie Time

Just a couple of cuties in their matching jammies. All squeaky clean and ready for bed. The other day, Nate had fallen asleep in his car seat and Wes said to me, "Mommy, Nate looks like an angel when he's sleeping". Awwww, little does Wes know that he originated the "angel baby sleeping" in our house.

Wes Quote of the Day
I picked Wes up from preschool and we headed home for lunch. Wes declared that he wanted PB&J, so I started to the pantry to get peanut butter and a jar of baby food for Nate. I said, "Nate, what do you want to eat for lunch". Wes looked at him, looked at me and said, very seriously, "He wants baby food." Looks like Wes is answering for his brother already.

Another Day of Firsts
It's been another banner day at the Dinoffria house. Nate's top left tooth started poking though today. Nate also started waving bye bye. He waved goodbye to Grandma Dee Dee today and even made a sound that sounded remarkably like "bye". What a smart, big boy!

Just for Daddy
Today Nate started saying "Dadada" really clear! Even better, he started saying this while I was at work and he was playing with Chris. Special, just for Dada!

Cuteness Update
Nate gives kisses! Full on, open mouth on the cheek kisses! With a little lick thrown in here and there for good measure. He's handing them out left and right, which is a good thing, because I LOVE baby kisses.
Today, I threw a headband on to do something with my hair and get it out of my face. Wes said I looked like a princess! I guess I'll be wearing headbands more often.

Swingers!
It was cool enough in the shade of our tree today that we decided to get out the swings I had gotten on clearance. We are so happy to have two big citrus trees in our backyard and we decided to put them to work. Now each boy has a swing on a grapefruit tree limp and we can have a swinging good time!

What Kind of Milk Do You Want?
Wes keeps referring to what I thought was "Wiggily Milk". At first I thought he was talking about milk in curvy bottles, like Shamrock singles or the bottles that come with a Happy Meal. He has said this several times and I sort of let it go and didn't really try and figure out exactly what "Wiggily Milk" was. Then today, he referred to the cart at Target that doesn't have the extra seats for kids as the "Wiggily Cart". Now, I had to get to the bottom of this. With a little help from my mom and Chris, we figured out that he was actually saying "Riggily", not "Wiggily" and he actually meant "regular". Ah ha! All the times he referred to "Riggily Milk" he was talking about white milk as opposed to chocolate milk. So cute! Now everything is "Riggily" around here.

1st Day of Preschool
Oh my gosh! How did this happen? How did my little newborn baby boy become old enough to wear a backpack and go to preschool? He is such a big boy and is SO ready to go to school. He has been asking to go to school since he could talk, so we figured 3 years old is a perfect time to get acquainted with the classroom environment.
We took the prerequisite before school photos. In my rush to get out the door I freaked out a little when I realized that the location I chose to take this picture would be the location for all future 1st day of school photos in our family. Talk about pressure! I quickly decided on underneath the olive tree and am happy with my pick. Wes even wanted to get a picture with his brother but we were running late and he was already strapped into the car seat, so this is what we got.
Wes could not wait to get to school. He had picked himself out a new Cars backpack the night before. Grandma Dee Dee had gotten him a Cars lunch box for the days that he wanted to stay for lunch and Papa and Lou Lou had gotten him some cool, brand new school shoes.
He ran right in and hung his backpack on the hook like and old pro. I barely got him to stand still long enough for a picture and a hug. Then he was off to explore his new classroom. His teachers are Miss Jill and Miss Tina and he loves them. He didn't stay for lunch his first day, so I made him lunch in his new lunch box and we went straight from school to Grandma's house to have a picnic lunch on her living room floor. Wes thought this was great and Grandma thought it was great to hear about Wes's first day.August 14, 2009

San Diego 2009 - Day 7
Wes, finally getting a crack at Adam's surfboard. He had been asking Adam all week to take him surfing.
This is how Wes feels about having to behave in fancy restaurants. We spent our last night having a lovely dinner at Brockton Villa in La Jolla, my favorite restaurant. It overlooks La Jolla Cove and we like to go at sunset. The food is always yummy, the atmosphere (an old house on the side of a cliff) is so cute and comforting and the staff is always super nice, especially to our rowdy little kids. I love that place.August 12, 2009
San Diego 2009 - Day 6
Adam says that if he ever needs to go to a "happy place" he can think of our bike ride day and immediately be relaxed. I agree! It's definitely one of my favorite days of the year.
