Maybe this is my most favorite milestone. Nate decided to start sleeping 8 hours at night now that he is the ripe old age of 6 weeks old! When he first came home from the hospital he was not growing as fast as his pediatrician wanted him to. So, I had to wake him up to feed every 3 hours around the clock. This meant that I only got 2 hour stretches of sleep at night with no rest during the day (with a 2 year old to run after) for about the first 2 weeks. By the end of it I started to feel like a total zombie. I had never experienced this with Wes because he was such a big baby that I didn't have to worry about his growth and he came home from the hospital sleeping 5 hours at a time. Luckily, after the first 2 weeks Nate started growing at a normal pace and I could let him wake up on his own to feed and he was nice enough to go for 5 hours stretches at night also. Then at 6 weeks old, I guess he felt like he needed to make it up to me and started sleeping for 8 hours at night. What a good baby!

First Smile
One of my most favorite milestones! Nate gave me the privilege of witnessing his first real smile today while I was changing his diaper. It will be a while before I can catch this on camera but that gummy little smile just melts my heart.

Such a Big Helper!
Wes has been a very good helper since Nate was born. He is great at running in the other room to get a burp rag or Nuk when I am stuck in the chair feeding Nate. He will try and give Nate his Nuk (we're working on "carefully") and will let the dogs in and out of the backyard when I have my hands full. He prides himself on helping and will say "Mommy, I'm SUCH a big helper"...and he is. One morning I was down the hall changing Nate, and Wes came running into Nate's room declaring that he had hung up all the laundry for me. I thought this was incredibly sweet and cute, but boy was I curious. I knew I had left a pile of baby laundry on the couch to fold and wasn't sure how Wes could have "hung it up" for me. I went out to the living room and this is what I found.

Apparently, in addition to the baby clothes, I had left some of mine and Chris's hangers from a previous load of laundry on the couch as well. Wes had taken every piece of Nate's clothes and wrapped it around the big hangers and stacked them the best he could. How cute is that? He really tried to hang up the laundry for me! He got an A for effort (and a big, big hug and kiss). Such a sweet boy.

Happy Birthday Papa!
What a nice Papa! Papa decided to celebrate his birthday, he wanted to take his 3 grandsons to the Railroad Park. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time visiting with all of the family that stopped by.
Diaper bag...check, ice chest...check, Wes...check. All aboard for a wagon ride to the car!

Zane's 3rd Birthday Party
This is a picture of Wes and his best bud Xavier at Zane's 3rd birthday party. We had a great time at the party at the Railroad Park. I didn't take too many pictures because it was one of the first times I was out alone juggling both boys. Nate got to ride both the little and big trains in the sling with me but we probably won't count it as his 1st ride at the Railroad Park until he is actually awake for it.

Guess That Baby
One of these babies is Wes and the other is Nate. Can you tell which is which? Leave a comment with your guess! I'll post the answer on Sunday June 14th.
Most people got it right! The only real giveaway is the hair. Nate has so much more hair than Wes did. If I had a picture of Nate with his eyes open I bet it would have been harder. A couple of cute brothers!

Zoo Lights
We had lots of fun and we all loved all of the lights. Wes liked the giant talking giraffe and we all liked the trees that "danced" to the music. We all liked it so much that we watched it twice.

Happy New Year!
By New Year's Eve, I was a little worn out and ready for a simple night at home. Luckily, that's how we like to spend New Year's Eve every year. Adam, Jaime, Gramma Dee Dee and Linde came over for a yummy fondue dinner that is now becoming a New Year's Eve tradition. After dinner, Adam and Jaime left for much more exciting New Year's Eve activities, and Jen, Tyler, Izzy and Austin came over to play games. We had a lot of fun playing Pictionary while the kids ran around and before we knew it, it was time to count down to 2009.
As always, Gramma Dee Dee came through and supplied us with plenty of noise making devices. The kids really had a great time with all of the snap caps, poppers and bomb bags (and by kids I mean, all of us under the age of 60). As for Nate...he slept through most of it, no snap caps for him until at least his 2nd New Year's Eve.
