Surgery Time

For some reason, this is surgery week. Linde had lap band surgery yesterday and is doing really well so far. Wes spent the night with Papa and Lou Lou, and this morning we took Nate in to have surgery to straighten a little bit of a twisted penis. The surgery went really well, he didn't cry at all. The doctor said most babies get scared and cry when they put the gas mask on them, but Nate just tried to lick it. That's my boy. We were able to go back to recovery as soon as he was done. There was a nurse rocking him and she was really bummed to give him up. He had really charmed the whole surgery department. He was really groggy and immediately started to reach sleepily for my hair to feel. The nurse asked what he was doing and I explained that hair is his comfort object. She had wondered what he was trying to reach for as she was holding him. Apparently he was also reaching for his own hair on the operating table and the doctor was trying to figure it out. That's why you need a Mommy around sometimes, to explain these things.

He came out of his sleepiness pretty quickly and I was able to nurse him with no problems, so he was released. He was his normal happy baby self, so we went upstairs to visit Linde. Linde was up, sitting in her chair and doing well and was so happy to see how great Nate was doing. We visited for a little while, then headed home so everyone could get some rest.
