San Diego Day 5

Yay! It was time for a beach day. The sun hadn't been out since we arrived in San Diego, but that wasn't going to stop us. We packed up all of our stuff and headed across the street to the beach side for some fun in the sand.

Wes had been dying to give this Buzz Lightyear kite a try the Grandma had got for him at Costco. In fact, he "packed" it the moment he got it, which was back in like May. It was a really windy day, even too windy for a kite, so we had a hard time keeping it in the air for long, but we had a lot of fun trying.

Nate, my sand boy, playing with and eating the sand. Daddy said that I get to change the next diaper.

We convinced Nate to sit down and eat something other than sand. A little bit of lunch on the beach for everyone.

Then it was time to head down to the water to play.

Nate wasn't a big fan of dipping his toes in the cold water.

But nothing was going to keep my water baby Wes from splashing in the ocean.

He ran out and in, out and in to the waves, thoroughly enjoying himself. Adam chased him out a few times, worried that he was getting out too far. Wes loved it.

Adam, Jaime and Liz show Wes how to jump waves. Adam has had a lot of practice, but man does he have it down.

Nate preferred to stay on the sand with Daddy and help him dig a tremendous tunnel under the sand.

Lucy's future's so bright, she has to wear shades.

Wes took a little break from the ocean to have a snack with Grandma.

I know it's a little cold out here Linde, but really?

Nate and Jack played really well together in the sand. They were throwing it everywhere, including at each other, but they weren't hitting anyone else and neither of them was complaining, so we let them go at it.

My spectacular beach body at 29 1/2 weeks pregnant.

Adam dug a hole in the sand for me to lay my belly in, so I could actually lay on my stomach, which I haven't been able to do for months. First, he took approximate measurements of course.

After getting cleaned up from the beach and a little nap, Chris and I were ready to try cooking a clam bake in a pot.

Neither of us had cooked most of this seafood before, including live lobster, so we were a little worried, but it turned out great. Very yummy!

A little after dinner baseball in the sand.

Nate makes a few phone calls with bear in tow.

Grandma Dee Dee happily holds Lucy for a bit, while Lucy sucks her fingers.

Wes captivates Nate and Jack with his impersonation of the little girl from Despicable Me saying, "does this count as annoying?".

Then we headed over to Ghirardelli's ice cream for one of our favorite San Diego treats. Whew...that was a full day!
