Disneyland Park - Day 1

We are headed to THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH!!!! Papa and Lou Lou arrived that morning, checked into the hotel and met us to hop on the bus to Disneyland. We were all very excited. On the way there Wes said, "I can't wait to see what Disneyland looks like". We all couldn't wait for him to see either.

We first headed to Tomorrowland and the first ride we went on was a Buzz Lightyear ride where you had to shoot little lazer guns at targets all through the ride. We all got to go on this ride, even Nate. It was really cute and fun and it turned out to be one of Wes's favorites. Next we did Star Tours and Space Mountain. As we started to take off in Space Mountain, my first thought was that we probably should have had Wes do his first real rollercoaster with the lights on...too late now. Wes cried when it was over, just as predicted (although a little late) the darkness scared him. He's a tough kid though and shrugged it off quickly, he had more rides to check out.

While Papa and Lou Lou ate a little breakfast, we all headed over to a must see for any little boy who loves cars as much as Wes does...Autopia. Wes drove Daddy in one car.

Grandma drove me in another car...and stalled a couple times.

Linde drove herself in the third car. See her peeking out behind Wes and Daddy's car.

Then we got Papa and Lou Lou and headed to the new Nemo submarine ride. Papa said he liked it better when it was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea but Wes likes Nemo so he enjoyed it. As you can see, Nate liked looking out the window at all the cool stuff too.

Then it was time for lunch. We went to New Orleans square and found ourselves some sandwiches and salads. We forgot Nate's bib and didn't want to get his Mickey Mouse shirt dirty, so, off came the shirt. There was a mini parade going on in New Orleans square to celebrate the new movie The Princess and the Frog. There were colorful New Orleans people, including Princess Tiana, dancing around and singing Down at the Bayou. Wes and Nate loved it and at the end of their parade they came dancing right next to the table where we were sitting. What is the appropriate response to seeing someone topless in New Orleans? Throw beads at them of course. So, Nate got beads laid around his neck as the parade was going by!

We all couldn't wait to hit up a couple old favorites, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted House. I was a little worried about Wes being scared on these rides but kept reminding him that everything was pretend, and he loved them. The Haunted House was all dressed up as The Nightmare Before Christmas, so that helps out a little bit with the creep factor.

Before boarding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a Disney employee checked to make sure that Wes reached the magical 40 inch mark that allows him to go on most of the rides. The only ride he isn't tall enough to go on is the Indiana Jones ride.

Then, we headed over to Toon Town to see Mickey Mouse's house and most importantly, Mickey Mouse himself. Wes and Nate had to check out what it's like to sit in the big guy's chair.

We walked all through Mickey's house and finally got to meet Mickey! It was very exciting!

Wes told me that Nate is saying, "Hey, whose this guy holding my hand?" in this picture.

Wes was so happy to meet his buddy, Mickey.

We took a ride, all the way around the park on the Disneyland Railroad, just before sunset.

Then, we headed over to Fantasyland, where Wes chased bubbles, we went on a few rides, and we checked out the castle all lit up.

It was time to get some dinner for everyone, so we headed back to Main Street to get some eats. Oops, both boys didn't quite make it to dinner, so we saved Wes a hot dog, for when he woke up. Nate woke up as soon as he heard us say "food", the kid never wants to miss a meal.

Tired and full of fun, we got back on the bus to the hotel to sleep up for more fun ahead.
