Christmas Eve 2009

We had a fun Christmas Eve celebration like always. Wes was a pretty good boy in church, but Daddy had to walk Nate out to the lobby a couple times. The poor kid was really hungry and does not tolerate being hungry. We really should have fed him before church, but with all the schedule changes during the holidays, we just didn't think about it.

The boys were super handsome in their matching sport coat ensembles.
Wes donned the Santa hat and got to work passing out everyone's presents. At first we would tell him who the present was for and he would take it to them. After a little bit he caught on to the first letter in everyone's name and was able to "read" the gift tags all by himself. Jaime was really amazed by this. What can we say, he's an amazing little boy.

Nate was so, so cute! He was really, truly excited to be opening gifts. We set him in his highchair and handed him gifts to unwrap (with a little help from Jaime). He LOVED opening gifts and got very excited about what was inside. He was screeching and smiling and flapping his arms. After opening a favorite Thomas the Train See and Say present, he scrunched up his face in the cutest grin and let out the funniest giggle. I was video taping at the time and haven't looked back at the tape, but I really hope I captured it because it was true joy.

The boys were totally spoiled by Grandma, Linde and Santa. A couple of Wes's favorite toys were the "Hulk strong hands" as he calls them and a Cars tool kit. He had a great time punching Adam, Michael and Daddy (well, everyone really) with the Hulk hands. Then he started to carry his toolkit around the house to "fix stuff". He asked Grandma to give him a list of things that need fixing. Grandma asked him for a pen and paper. He "handed her" a pretend pen and piece of paper. She thought of a couple things, said them out loud, and "wrote them down". She "handed Wes the piece of paper" so he would know what to go fix. He started to walk away, then came back and said, "Uh...my pen?". We about died laughing. What a funny kid! He's so good at pretending now, that he won't even forget to get his pretend pen back. He was running around the house "fixing" things left and right and having us "call him" on the pretend phone to fix things. At one point I asked the "fixer man" what his name was. Wes replied without hesitation, "Cracker". We're not sure where that came from. Maybe he saw a box of crackers or something, but "Cracker" has made several appearances since then to fix odds and ends around the house. What a great Christmas Eve!

  1. I was wondering if Cracker could come over, we have a couple of roof shingles missing. You're right, what a wonderful Christmas! Love Gramma
